Given how our showups have gone in the past, this could be a real issue if we don't allow someone to sub even if he's had his 10 deaths already.

Or it would quickly filter out the teams that shouldn't be there to begin with.

ANd if you make the rules like that it makes much sense for someone to have his own team if he is good and then just play it all by himself.... ANd you can only avoid that by making it 1+ lives max, regardless... But he should be allowed to play even if he is only 1 guy. That way it won't hurt the game like you fear, but it will keep it "fair"

As if 1 guy could even come close to as many kills as a team of 3. It would be 1v3v3v3v...

One guy couldn't win vs the best of teams but he could definitely beat many teams :)

Perhaps, though I'm not sure that's really a statement about the system so much as it's a statement about the state of our teams...I mean, if a guy can solo and get more kills than a team of 3...doesn't he kind of deserve to win??

Not if he gets 30 lives to do it... Then it cannot be THAT hard, although I haven't tried. We're all just guessing here.

But my opinion is set. 10 lives max per person regardless.

I don't think so. It's supposed to be a team game and as mentioned previously if
there was a team of Jesster + Johnny + Makron, it would make no sense to let
Jess or John play because Makky for sure could do better alone.

On another hand, you don't really need to be much of a player to get a good
results from the match alone. There are two options, either you bomb from safe
positions and warp when someone comes close, or then you simply rocket
attack all players who have used their ports.

Not to mention if the person just happens to be lucky and hits those safe bombs.
Then in the end it's 1v1v1v1v1v1 and he has 15 lives remaining. Now he could
attack everyone crazily. I don't think that one playing alone would die more than
a team of three players, I actually believe the opposite. See, if another team
attacks another group of three and they succeed in the best way, they kill all
three of them in that attack. If it was only one guy... "his team" would lose one
life in every lost battle.

I still don't see any reason to give anyone more than 10 lives...

Edit: Couldn't you pos if that was your only goal and you were fighting alone?
I know I could.. and I'm nowhere near the best players here.
If I had 30 lives it would mean I get +30 kills in every match. Technically, you
could win a game with 31 kills (theoretically).

What you're saying is no different from this hypothetical situation:

Suppose a team of makron, beastie, and...say kemi, show up. They first ONLY play makron. He uses his 10
deaths. Then they play ONLY beastie. He uses his 10 deaths. Then they play kemi.

That's NO DIFFERENT from makron just playing 30 lives.

BUT I think we can all agree that the strategy to play them one at a time would yield far fewer kills than if
all 3 played at once. *If we can't agree on this, then we need to consider ONLY allowing squads to play
if they play 3, and we'd need a way to dq squads when a player drops out for some reason.*

The point is, if we're talking about the best players, it doesn't matter whether they play on a team of 3 or
individually. They'll rape. By limiting subbing in this way, you're more likely to hurt newb teams that show up
with 1 or 2 than to help really good teams that show up with 3 (or 1) makron(s).
