Team Combat League starting!

Hello DSB!
Team Combat League will begin on 15th April at 18:00GMT. Every squad is expected to show up in time so we can start the game ASAP. If a lot of players and squads show up, obviously the game takes a while, take that into account as well.

The format:
14 games in 7 weeks, starting from 15th April, ending 27th May. That means we will have two games every Sunday, first game starting at 18:00GMT and second game at 20:00GMT.
Once the regular season is over, top 4 based on scores will proceed to final showdown which consists of 3 games. Obviously, these final games will be played in a smaller map than the regular season.

The game play:
Time limit for the game is 60 minutes. The formula how the kills and deaths is this: 3*kills - deaths. Additional 30 points will be given to every team who shows up so showing up matters! The death limit is 10 so once you have reached 10 deaths, you are out.
Teams of 3 are preferred so the game is played exactly as it is supposed to be, however you can play with 2 or even 1 pilot if you simply don't have 3.
One emper and one bomber per frequency will be allowed.

Map:
The official map presented to the players a while ago is now officially taken down. After closely reviewing the situation we've decided to do a map rotation for the first 4 weeks with different maps from our events:
?go stelim
?go te
?go atw
?go teamelim
After 4 weekends, the best map, picked by the players, will be used for the rest of the league (excluding the final showdown games). You can suggest a map for the rotation if you think the current maps are not good enough, also feel free to suggest map for the final games.

Note: If we have a small show up for some game, we will have some SMALL map waiting at our secondary TCL arena so you do not need to hunt few players on big map. (Possibly the te map)

Issue:
We've discovered interesting issue regarding a team with less than 3 players. Lets imagine a situation where 1 pilot for a team shows up - he plays his 10 deaths and gets placed to spectator mode. At this point it gets interesting: the pilot can jump back in and spend another 10 deaths for his teammate who did not show, obviously he can do the same again for the other pilot who didn't show up.

We had great debate over this in our secret dark room and decided to ask do you, the players, think this is good or should we limit this somehow?

Discuss, tell me your thoughts, but be ready, we're rocking and rolling big time starting on 15th April 18:00GMT. Do not forget to show up for the squad exhibition & recruitment game on 8th April at 18:00GMT!

He should get his 10 lives and not be allowed to get back in. But he should be allowed to play 1 vs 3 vs 3 etc...

I don't think any player should be allowed more than 10 deaths, regardless if he's alone or not.
It is a team game after all. If that one player decides to participate, his team will gain 30 points
which is definitely enough. No one wants a solo hider bombing from far away and warping when
someone comes close for 30 deaths... Not to mention that he could actually gain a shitload of
points from doing that.
Hypothetical situation would a team of Makron + Jesster + johnny. There's no reason why the
team should play Jesster and Johnny when they can give Makron 30 deaths who could easily
go positive even playing alone. (Actually anyone with some brains would go positive in that
situation)

On another note...
Tembest wrote:Another crazy idea is to have random forced ships for regular season. People might complain about bad
luck though. However, I think it would be fun if the ships for each team were announced like on Monday
for next weekend's matches. Then the squad should be versatile with players who can fly those ships,
even shark pubbers might get recruited, and the squad would be given a chance to practice the
combination during the week. Think about it.
This sparked some interest when I proposed it, both here and in game.
I had a chat about with BH yesterday, and he said it sounds interesting as well.

At the moment, however, the situation is that it would probably take too much time to code,
and I've understood that Ent is our only coder right now. Is here anyone who would actually
have the time or interest to make it happen? It might not be possible for this TLC anymore
though, but perhaps it deserves a try some day?

Agreed with above posts.

I am really in favour of Temb's idea for pre-set ships too. Otherwise I don't think anyone will use terrier and shark, and few people will use warbird and levi. It will be a jav, weasel, spider, and lancaster league. Does it need to be coded? Couldn't the host or a staffer check people's ships after the lock?

It would be the same as 4 vs 4 league I beliebe with 1 levi or lanc on each team and then mostly heavies. But could be fun if the ships were sort of like ATW. Perhaps then only 1 lives, 1 in each ship? :)

Not a fan of ATW style. Temb's suggestion of having the ships for next weekend announced on Monday's would be the best thing to have because there could be some really interesting combinations. Warbird, Levi, Shark would be pretty cool.

There's a complication. Suppose a team shows with 3, and one person gets KOd. Then suppose one teammate lags out and doesn't return. You're saying that the KOd guy shouldn't be allowed to sub?

Yep. That's exactly what we're saying. There is no "complication".
The player in spec has used his deaths already. If someone lags out it's too bad,
buy a better connection or show up with more people...
