This works, I advise setting up a new e-mail address for this purpose alone though. I made the mistake of setting it up on my own e-mail address on a different forum I'm admin on and I got spammed by bots trying to register.

Probably, but it's far from foolproof. Bots are very very hard to keep out. ReCaptcha alone isn't enough.
